Dear Sara;
We are currently finalizing a program called National Youth Action Program aimed at encouraging youths to get actively involved in national development and reducing brain drain that in part contributes to the problems of illegal emigration in developed countries. The program will start the first Cameroon volunteering agencies that support Cameroonians volunteer in different rural and semi-urban communities. Please kindly let me know if there are programs you know that work towards encouraging citizens to stay in their home countries.
sincerely

About Me:
After finishing school in 1994, I went to Israel for about a year, which left an impression on me. Although my curiosity at the time was directed more towards ecological concerns than to political ones, I saw a connection between our societal conflicts and our alienation from our environment.
My interest in peace studies developed via a detour through eco-politics: When studying Ecology at Oxford Brookes University (1996-1998), I became more attentive to the political interrelations that governed my area of study and got involved in political activism. From eco-campaigns, my political focus expanded to socio-political issues, as I participated in several grassroots groups concerned with alternative media and alternative lifestyles.
I realized that my future was not in the natural sciences, aborted my studies and worked as a care-assistant (1998-2000). In the meantime I saved up money and planned for a prolonged venture to visit several communities and associations dedicated to alternative, low-impact and socially sound living, which brought me to France and Spain throughout 2001and 2002.
Finally my recognition of the limited scope of such projects due to the prevailing global interdependencies that create harsh asymmetries of wealth and power and trap people in conflict and war led me back to university to first do a BA in Politics (Bochum, 2003-06), and then the MA in Peace and Conflict Studies in Magdeburg (both in Germany) that I am enrolled in now.
