Sustainable Peace for Sustainable Development in Africa

Actually since the introduction of Democracy in Africa very little has been done to bring about changes in most African countries.presidents rule for more than 10years.corruption,poor social facilities, poor governance are the mean characteristic of most Governments in Africa. All these has result to the numerous problem face by some Africa countries. What is really the course of all these? what is our leaders doing to solve these problems? Should We sit and watch are leaders destroyed are fatherland. We all need to do something. We need to stand and fight for the effective implementation of democracy in Africa.

Hi; First thank you for opening this discussion. I think Democracy is a process in which all the citizens MUST get involved and get dedicated to ensuring that the game is plaid by the rules. First, the beginning of any democratic process is information (via community mobilization and sensitization). This should be followed by massive voters registration. This again should be followed by community mobilization and sensitization on the need and importance of voting. Once this is done, the citizens must play an active rule in safeguarding their votes by making sure that they keep an eye and ear on the processes.

I may want to let us know that democracy has a very wide spectrum cutting across out community and national life. We must start by democratizing simply processes like community groupings etc. One key component is governance and accountability. Once we understand the power of our votes, those we put in place will also understand that we can depose them at any time when they fail to deliver.

Presently there are democratic spots in Africa but are largely overshadowed by the sea of authoritarian rules. What democracy we want to see in Africa is our responsibility. Imagine that there are 1million Cameroons like you willing to do everything to register just four Cameroonians and follow-up to make sure that they eventually cast their votes. This will mean 4million voters. If each of these person can do the same just for 2 more voters, we will have a total of 8million voters more than double the current rate in Cameroon.
We must be the change we want to see in Cameroon
